A Psaltery is a kind of 30 string bowed harp. It has changed only slightly in the 4000 years or so since it's invention (probably in Egypt) and its hauntingly beautiful violin type sounds were popular among the psalters or psalmists from whence we get the word Psalms. Although no relegated to appalachian mountain music and celtic folk songs, you will find many uses for these lovely and distinguished psaltry sounds.
