The sarod, although Indian, probably has it's origins in Arabic ethnic instruments. Like some kind of psychotic cross between sitar, banjo, and pedal steel guitar, the fretless nature of playing combined with the buzz from the Indian jawari and an eerie natural reverb from loads of sympathetic strings make the Sarod a gorgeous and little heard instrument to add to your tonal palette.
